We are incredibly lucky to have our schoolhouse sit amongst the hustle and bustle of White Oak Pastures. The 3,200 acres make for a perfect outdoor classroom where the students can explore and truly connect with nature. When owner, Will Harris, was approached about starting an outdoor program on the farm for his grandchildren and the community, he didn't hesitate. His focus on regenerative farming naturally carries over into the generational transfer of caring for this land and making our way back to traditional teaching methods - whether it's learning how to drive a tractor or how to do multiplication.
"PUBLIC EDUCATION HAS DRIFTED AWAY FROM MANY OF THE FUNDAMENTAL ELEMENTS THAT WE AT WHITE OAK PASTURES HOLD DEAR. WE FIND THIS IS TRUE IN MANY PUBLIC SERVICES. THE BLUFFTON OUTDOOR ACADEMY IS OUR ATTEMPT TO GIVE OUR CHILDREN THE BENEFITS OF BASIC EDUCATION THAT WE BELIEVE THEY DESERVE." - Will Harris III
